Some little boys, when asked what they want to become in the future would most likely tell you that they want to be police officers. The thing that contributes to this preference would be how police officers are portrayed over different types of media, i.e. Television shows, movies, and cartoons. Being a policeman normally portrays masculinity at its best, especially since one is given the opportunity to carry around and work with cool gadgets and investigate the most challenging of crimes. This kind of connotation is precisely what drives a child to dream of becoming a police officer someday.

However, in reality, there is more to being a police officer than these connotations. What do police officers do exactly?

Police officers function as the peacekeepers and law enforcers in society. They arrest those who make violations against the law and rights of other individuals. They also make sure that rules and regulations of a state are implemented without bias. These people play a crucial role in society. It takes an ample amount of responsibility and discipline to fulfill this task successfully.
